Aston Martin has put the pieces in place for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The team has named the drivers for its two-car lineup.

According to a Tuesday announcement, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will both return to the team for the 2027 season. They will once again work as teammates, marking the fifth season for this two-driver lineup.
Alonso tricked fans on social media on Tuesday while announcing the news. He sat down in a chair for an Aston Martin video, and he said, "I will retire from Formula 1." He left a long pause linger before adding, "But not yet."

"I'm very happy to sign a new contract with Aston Martin," Alonso said in a press release. "I took my time to make this decision, but racing is my life, my passion, and I know I still have the speed and determination to compete at the highest level.
"I'm committed for the long term with this team and to helping us succeed. I truly believe in what we are building: we have strong leadership, incredible people, partners and facilities.
"I look forward to making more memories on the race track in front of the passionate fans. Their energy creates an atmosphere that inspires me and is what makes our sport special."
Alonso has competed in F1 since the 2001 season, and he has achieved some success. He has won 32 Grands Prix and two World Drivers' Championships. He went back-to-back in 2005 and 2006 while winning seven Grands Prix each season for Renault.
The veteran driver joined Aston Martin in 2023, and he has remained as part of the lineup ever since. He posted eight podium finishes in his first season with the team, and he finished the year fourth in the championship standings.
Stroll joined the F1 ranks in 2017, and he has gone on to make 204 starts. He remains winless, but he has three podium finishes. He finished third at Baku, Monza, and Bahrain.
Stroll joined the Aston Martin lineup in 2021. He took over the No. 18, and he has remained in control of the entry since. His best finish for the team was fourth at Melbourne in 2023.
"I'm very happy to continue with Aston Martin Aramco for the long term," Stroll said. "I've been on this journey since the beginning and I believe we have the resources and the people to become a winning team.
"There is so much hard work going on at Silverstone with real progress being made, and the determination I see in every department is a huge motivation for me.
