According to a Tuesday announcement, William Byron's No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet Camaro will have a black base with a flame pattern that fades from yellow to red. The stock car will feature the classic neon yellow numbers as Hendrick Motorsports brings back the look for the future.

The Axalta logos will be on the car for the final time this season. The company will return as a primary sponsor in 2027, but it will do so under a different name. Hendrick Motorsports will reveal this name and scheme at a later date.

The tribute scheme throws it back to the 2013 season, Axalta's first in the Cup Series. Gordon had DuPont as a primary sponsor in 2012, but the company rebranded as Axalta in 2013.

This led to a significant change on the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro as Gordon continued to pursue wins and championships.

Gordon had Axalta as a primary sponsor for nine of the 36 Cup Series races. He had CroMax Pro as a primary for multiple other races. The majority of races featuring the Axalta logos had the black scheme with the flames.

Although one trip to Michigan International Speedway featured a special blue and white Axalta/Standox scheme.

Byron, for comparison, has run Axalta schemes in dozens of races dating back to his rookie season in 2018. He has multiple wins with the company as his primary partner, including back-to-back Daytona 500s.

Byron also won the 2023 Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway while running a gold tribute scheme to Gordon.

Another tribute scheme will now take center stage during a race weekend at Phoenix Raceway, a track where Byron has celebrated one win. He will showcase the black car with the signature flames while closing out another chapter for Axalta, and he will try to score his first win of the 2026 season.
