V8 Sleuth reported that Walkinshaw TWG Racing team principal Carl Faux will move from the world of Supercars to the NASCAR Cup Series. He will join Legacy Motor Club as the team expands to three full-time entries. Faux will take on the role of principal performance engineer.
Legacy Motor Club also confirmed the addition of Faux to FanBuzz but did not provide details about his new role.
Faux has been a member of Walkinshaw TWG Racing since 2017 when he moved from the United Kingdom to become technical director. He then earned the promotion to team principal in 2023.
This team, which switched to Toyota Racing Development this season, has scored multiple wins during Faux's tenure. This includes the prestigious Bathurst 1000. Chaz Mostert also won the 2025 championship.
This season, Mostert is eighth in the driver standings with two wins. Teammate Ryan Wood is ninth in the standings with one win.
"I just want to do things that are fulfilling," Faux told V8 Sleuth. "That was my primary objective, to find a role that I could be fulfilled with the work that I do. Fortunately, Andy (Graves, Executive Competition Director of TRD) put me in touch with one of the teams over there, which was Legacy Motor Club."
Faux told the outlet that he went to the United States for the race weekend at Sonoma. He spent the weekend at the track with Legacy Motor Club before returning to Statesville, North Carolina, for a visit to the shop.
The Supercars veteran said that Legacy Motor Club made him an offer, which he "delightfully" accepted.
Prior to meeting with Legacy Motor Club, Faux and Walkinshaw TWG Racing had confirmed that they would part ways this season. The team issued a statement in July and said that Faux would look for a new challenge and a role outside of the sport.
"Walkinshaw TWG Racing can confirm team principal, Carl Faux, will finish with the team towards the end of the 2026 season, as he looks for his next challenge and role outside of the sport," the team said in a July statement.
"Since joining in 2017, Carl has played an instrumental part in the re-shaping and success of the team, culminating in a Bathurst 1000 win, a championship win, and the homologation and implementation of the Toyota GR Supra to the Supercars Championship.
"We will definitely miss Carl and wish him nothing but the best in his next challenge, whatever it may be, but have plenty of goals to achieve and moments left to share together before then."
