The North Carolina driver will move back to the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series while switching from Toyota Racing to Team Chevy. He will drive the No. 41 Camaro for Haas Factory Team.

The announcement happened on Wednesday as Nemechek prepared for his final race with Legacy Motor Club. Haas Factory Team noted that Nemechek will drive one of the three full-time entries as the team expands for 2027. He will become teammates with Dean Thompson and a to-be-announced driver.

"John Hunter brings the experience and talent we're looking for at Haas Factory Team," said Joe Custer, President of Haas Factory Team. "We're excited to have him join our organization and look forward to competing for wins and championships together."

Nemechek, the son of Joe Nemechek, has spent the past three seasons competing full-time in the Cup Series. He has made 107 starts in the No. 42 Toyota while posting 14 top-10 finishes and three top-fives.

Prior to the 2024 season, Nemechek spent multiple seasons competing full-time across the three national NASCAR series. He spent 2023 in O'Reilly with Joe Gibbs Racing, 2021-22 in Trucks with Kyle Busch Motorsports, and 2020 in Cup with Front Row Motorsports.

Nemechek also competed full-time in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2019 with GMS Racing. He spent 2013-18 in the Truck Series competing for his father's team.

Nemechek won seven races during the 2023 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. He finished top 10 in 24 of the 33 races, and he finished the season fourth in the championship standings. He added two more wins in 2024 while making select starts.

The 29-year-old has accumulated 13 Truck Series wins and nine O'Reilly Series wins. He will aim to add to this number while working with veteran crew chief Jason Trinchere.

"I'm excited to join Haas Factory Team's O'Reilly Auto Parts Series program," said Nemechek. "They have championship-caliber cars and personnel, and I'm ready to get to work with this group and compete for wins in 2027."
