Four-star PF Babatunde Akingbola commits to rising SEC power

That's a nice pickup.

The Auburn Tigers are not only having a better than expected season, but Bruce Pearl continues to do damage on the recruiting trail. On Thursday, four-star prospect Babatunde Akingbola announced his commitment to the program by way of the mean streets of Twitter.

Akingbola is a member of the 2019 recruiting class.

Landing such a prized recruit comes as a relative surprise for Auburn. Not because Pearl fails at recruiting or anything, but due to the FBI forever looming around the corner.

It is somewhat strange, on the same day the USC Trojans shut down a player at the center of an FBI investigation, that the Tigers keep on keeping on without any real push back.

Oddly enough, we are only a short time removed from reports surfacing that Auburn would fire Pearl if he didn't begin to cooperate with an internal investigation. And yet, here we are, with the world's most famous BBQ fanatic landing top-tier prospects.

On the season, Auburn is off to a shocking 15-1 start. The Tigers are currently unbeaten in the SEC, having won their first three games in league play.

The Tigers next play the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday. After that, fellow FBI-probed program Alabama is on the docket.
