Kentucky head coach John Calipari has become the king of landing "one-and-done" prospects since it became a normal way of recruiting back in 2005. He's landed some of the best five-star recruits in the country since he took over at Kentucky in 2009. He's had several top-5 picks including guys like John Wall, Anthony Davis, Karl Anthony-Towns and Nerlens Noel.

However, Calipari is all about a new recruiting and draft model should it ever happen. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has said he would like something similar to what MLB does where players can go pro after high school or they have to go to school for three years before re-entering the draft. Calipari is surprisingly cool with that and would be a big supporter as he said on a conference call last week (as transcribed by Cats Illustrated):
"Would the baseball rule work? In my mind, yeah. Heck yeah. I'd love the baseball rule. I'd love the baseball rule for the kids. They'd have a chance to go right out of high school and get on an NBA roster. If they're a lottery pick they'll make $20 million. I love it."
It would certainly make it harder for Calipari to stack his recruiting classes six or seven players deep like he's done recently, but he just loves coaching the kids and went on to say that he wants what's best for the kids. He also believes that the NBA won't go back to drafting high schoolers because teams are not interested in taking that risk again.
