Dabo Swinney announces who he’s rooting for in Alabama-Florida State Week 1 showdown

This is a bit surprising.

By now most people know that Dabo Swinney got started at Alabama as a walk-on in his playing days. So even though he's had to coach against his alma mater in the last two national title games, they hold a special place in his heart. So you would think that he might be rooting for the Crimson Tide in the big Alabama-Florida State game to start the season. You would be wrong.

Apparently ACC bonds are stronger than playing bonds as Swinney just demonstrated. You would think Swinney wants the Seminoles to lose the game so his team would eventually have a better shot at getting into the College Football Playoff. You could also say he wants them to win so that if his team beats them later in the season it looks like an even better win down the road. Either way, it's certainly an interesting choice.
