The Sanders family has been in the news this week, as the son of legendary defensive back Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, received a high-profile scholarship offer from a familiar place in the Florida State Seminoles. Just hours after that came to fruition, though, another reason to pay close attention emerged, as his father (and former FSU standout) was prompted about a Christmas present from a member of the 'Noles faithful.
That's where things get interesting because, well, Sanders did not rule out the opportunity to coach the Florida State defensive backs.
It should be noted that, obviously, this isn't anything definitive but it is certainly interesting nonetheless.
Sanders has been acquainted with coaching, as he joined the staff where his sons played high school football. The connections to the Florida State program are pretty clear but, unlike a high school job, this would be one that would likely force Sanders away from television duty and into a more full-time role on the sidelines.
In some ways, that seems quite far-fetched, but perhaps the draw of coaching his son in a couple of years would be appealing. For now, this is a pipe dream but one that would cause hysteria around Tallahassee if it ever came to pass.
