The Texas Tech Red Raiders are searching for a huge upset in Lawrence, Kansas today, and they have some star power in the stands rooting them on against the 16th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. Patrick and Brittany Mahomes made the short trip to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium from Kansas City to watch Pat's alma mater

The Kansas City Chiefs are on a bye this week following their trip to Germany for last week's victory over the Miami Dolphins. The Mahomes' chose Lawrence Kansas as their getaway spot for the weekend, and are having a blast in the stands amongst the fans. Jayhawks faithful probably thought the Mahomes would be headed for the parking lot early, but a close contest has broken out instead.
The Red Raiders held a 4-5 record heading into the game and were decided road underdogs playing against a surging Kansas Football program. The Jayhawks sat at 7-2 having won two in a row including a gigantic victory over then sixth ranked Oklahoma. The Mahomes were among the Texas Tech faithful going wild as their Red Raiders jumped out to a 10-0 first half lead.
It might be hard for Patrick to recognize the offense Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire and his offensive coordinator Zach Kittley are running Saturday though, as Red Raiders current QB Behren Morton threw one interception, no touchdowns, and barely over 50 yards in the air in the first half. Not quite Mahomes and Kliff Kingsbury numbers, but still good enough for a halftime lead over a ranked opponent on the road.
The Red Raiders got one field goal out of the third quarter and took a 13-0 lead into the fourth. The Mahomes turned up for what they expected to be a high flying Big 12 affair, and a defensive battle ensued instead. Maybe Mahomes' attendance can be exactly the extra push his alma mater needs to pull off their biggest win of the season.
