Jim Harbaugh reportedly adding former Michigan player to his coaching staff

A nice find by Jim Harbaugh.

Because of Jim Harbaugh's magnetism and the general, high-profile nature of the Michigan program, there is a microscope on the Wolverines' coaching staff that rivals few other programs in the country. In addition, Michigan's assistants, as a general rule, are handsomely paid right now and that only heightens the attention paid to the group.

On Thursday, word broke from Josh Henschke of 247Sports that a (very) recognizable name to Michigan fans will be returning to Ann Arbor in a full-time capacity and that is former wide receiver Roy Roundtree. The report indicates that Roundtree will be a graduate assistant working with wide receivers and, in the recent past, Michigan has come under fire for struggles on the outside in that particular position group.

Prior to this, Roundtree was serving on the staff at Indiana State, but he is best known for his work as a pass-catcher for Michigan from 2009 through 2012. He was a four-year contributor for the Wolverines, totaling 2,304 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns over that quartet of seasons.

While Roundtree was never a full-fledged star, he emerged as a reliable option for both Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson. It will be interesting to see what kind of traction he gets as a de facto position coach but, for now, the Michigan faithful appear to be pleased that one of their own is coming "home" to Ann Arbor.
