Michigan Conspiracy Theory Suggests National Title Will Be Vacated

The Michigan Wolverines went 15-0 this season, winning the college football national championship. Still, the lead-up to it was mired in a controversy involving allegations of sign-stealing/sign-scouting, and now some users on X are already pushing a conspiracy theory that the title will be vacated soon.

"Imagine winning a Natty just to have it vacated because you're cheaters," one user wrote.

"Wait so per the 2022-2023 NCAA handbook if Michigan's wins are vacated due to the ongoing investigation regarding sign stealing, Texas will be crowned national champions??? WTF LMAO PLEASE @NCAA," another user wrote, attempting to interpret the rules.

"Jim Harbaugh has officially improved to 2-6 in Bowl Games at Michigan since 2016. Until tonight is vacated...," someone else said.

"Can't wait to see this whole college football season vacated in 18 months," another user said.

"Everyone is just forgetting Michigan blatantly cheated the sport lol, and it seemed like every call went their way, don't get it. Congrats to them, even though it'll be vacated in a year and a half lol," another X user said.

"Since Louisville had an NCAA title vacated over stripper-related issues with no competitive significance, can Michigan's CFP title survive NCAA investigation of its improper sign-stealing?" a user wrote. "If so, a double standard exists. If so, U of L should put its banner back up."

However, others spoke out against those calling for the title to be vacated.

"[A]nybody still seriously talking about sign stealing/vacated wins/whatever, after post-Stalions Michigan has run through Penn State, Ohio State and Alabama and is favored in the national title game, is just in terminal stages of cope and does not warrant attention," one Michigan defender said.

"It's so funny seeing the haters out there praying for our title to get vacated Say what you want call us what you want. Just make sure you call us CHAMPS while you're at it....Go Blue," one X user said.

The Wolverines became national champions when they defeated the No. 2-seeded Washington Huskies 34-13 on Monday night.

Now, Michigan fans will wait to see if the title is eventually vacated (as some X users claim will happen) — but, more immediately, what the future is for head coach Jim Harbaugh.
