One of the hottest coaches on the market may soon find his next landing spot

That sounds pretty big.

UCF has a big game this weekend and, if the Knights are able to knock off Memphis on the way to claiming the AAC title, it will mean the team completed an undefeated season just two years after going winless. That, in short, is a testament to the brilliance of head coach Scott Frost but, unfortunately for UCF, that also means Frost is a (very) hot commodity on the coaching market.

Rumors of Frost and a potential return to his alma mater of Nebraska have been swirling for some time and, in speaking with Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel in radio form this week, Frost may have tipped his hand on a decision. Bianchi describes Frost's appearance as including "a couple of emotional, heartfelt comments that make it seem likely he will announce his decision to leave sometime" after Saturday's clash with Memphis and, when prompted about Nebraska specifically concerning the opening, he said the following.

"I don't know. There's only a couple of places in the whole country that I would even think about coaching. ... It's not all about the money for me. It never will be. The quality of life here is second to none and these players are like family to me. Life always affords you tough decisions and we'll see what happens. But I can't tell you how much I love this place and these players."

That certainly isn't a flat denial of an appeal to Nebraska and Frost's extended comments are worth a read for full context. At the end of the day, it would be a fairly significant surprise if Frost were to remain at UCF with the quality of jobs that remain open on the market but the call to one's alma mater can be strong and at least one prominent writer believes he'll be headed to Lincoln in the near future.
