One of the hottest coaching names in college football is reportedly the top candidate for a potential vacancy at his alma mater.

According to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg, Nebraska has notified UCF of its interest in pursuing head coach Scott Frost, a former Cornhuskers quarterback, to replace Mike Riley next season.
It's a move that many have expected for months. The coach played on the Cornhuskers' last national championship team in 1997 and has recently gained national attention for leading an impressive turnaround at UCF.
After inheriting a winless team, Frost led the Knights to a bowl game during his first season and currently holds a 9-0 record in 2017.
While UCF is enjoying that run now, it likely means the coach will have his pick of numerous coaching vacancies at bigger programs. Frost has already been linked to the Florida and Tennessee jobs, although returning to his alma mater could be more enticing.
Nebraska is currently fourth in the Big Ten West division with a 4-6 (3-4 Big Ten) record, which includes a two-game losing streak, as well as losing four of its last five games. However, it's worth noting that head coach Riley is currently still employed for the time being.
