Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders met with the media on Tuesday afternoon and, like clockwork at this point, there was a golden takeaway moment from Coach Prime when talking about Mount Rushmore.
The unexpected exchange could be best described as: We weren't entirely clear where Sanders was going with this, but what's most important is where Sanders ended up landing. The topic? Mount Rushmore. Or, as he aptly described, "those little four heads in California."

The initial conversation began with Sanders saying his expectations are out of the park. Then, well, things took a hard right into an eye-opening lesson in geography. The dialogue went as follows:
Sanders: "My expectations are out of the darn park. You gotta understand, man. Come on, man. What's those little four heads that's in California? What do they call those? With those people's faces engraved?"
Reporter(s): "Rushmore. Mount Rushmore. In South Dakota."
Sanders: "Yeah, yeah. Come on, man. I sat up there. It's in where?"
Reporter(s): "South Dakota."
Sanders: "I thought it was in L.A. all this time ... wow, my geography ... that's the Hollywood thing (sign)? Alright that's what I thought. I'm sorry. Thank you for educating me! Jesus, South Dakota!"
The fact that Sanders referred to Mount Rushmore as "those four little heads" is pure comedy on its own, considering each of those historic head sculptures — of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln — is 60 feet tall.
Then it goes to another level of hilarity when you throw in the confusion of mistaking Mount Rushmore with another, very different type of American landmark in the "Hollywood" sign. And, honestly, it was probably some much-needed comic relief for a head coach who — while constantly making headlines for countless reasons — happens to be leading a team that sits dead last in the PAC-12 with a 1-7 record (4-7 overall).
If memories of "Dumb and Dumber" and the very famously wrong "Aspen, California" scene happen to be flowing right back into your head, you are more than likely not alone.
As for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, an attempt to finish off the season with a win sadly won't be getting any easier. The team's final game of the year — no, they won't be going to a bowl — comes on the road against Utah, a 7-4 team looking to rebound after two straight losses, including a heartbreaking 35-28 loss to No. 5 Washington.
