Coaches have been following him for years, and his time at Columbia High School has only boosted his stock.
While attending a summer camp in Tuscaloosa as an eighth-grader, Oatis received a scholarship offer from Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Three years later, the lineman formally committed to the Tide in April 2021.

In addition to Alabama, Oatis received offers from some prominent SEC programs, including Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
Of course, when you receive a scholarship from the Alabama football team, it's hard to say no. The crown jewel of the NCAA, Bama's reign over the rest of the college football world doesn't look like it's ending any time soon.

Oatis was recruited by defensive assistant Freddie Roach. He's joining a recruiting class that has received plenty of praise. Players such as running back Emmanuel Henderson and quarterback Ty Simpson will be settling in Tuscaloosa for the 2022 season as well.
Jaheim Oatis Highlights
Oatis is absolutely massive. At 6-foot-4 and 349 pounds, he towers over his high school opponents and makes for an impossible matchup.
The defensive tackle is a four-star player, according to the 247Sports Composite. In 2020, he totaled 68 tackles, including 18 for a loss. He also accumulated four sacks and generated four forced fumbles.
Scouts point to Oatis' ability to "attack" and be aggressive, which only makes him more of a force on the defensive line. He's surprisingly nimble for his size, and as long as his conditioning remains a top priority, he should have no problems at the college level.

Jaheim Oatis has NFL aspirations, and he's attending the right school to help make that happen. If he can earn a spot in Nick Saban's D-line, he'll be yet another Crimson Tide player who gets the chance to play professionally.
