Public records show the Wolverines staffer connected to Sherrone Moore received a 55 percent salary increase over the last year, jumping from $58,025 in 2024 to $90,000 with no listed change in job title, per the New York Post.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, is at the center of the investigation that led to Moore's firing on Wednesday. The 39-year-old head coach — a married father of three — was dismissed with cause after an outside probe found "credible evidence" of an inappropriate relationship, according to athletic director Warde Manuel.

Hours later, Moore was arrested following an altercation at an apartment complex in Pittsfield Township.

Police said officers were called to the residence around 4 p.m. Wednesday "for the purposes of investigating an alleged assault." One-bedroom units in the building rent for about $1,800 a month, the Post reported. Shortly after police arrived, Michigan announced Moore's dismissal.

Being fired with cause means the school may not owe the remaining $14.5 million to $16 million on Moore's contract.

Moore was booked into the Washtenaw County Jail around 8 p.m. Wednesday and remained there as of Thursday evening. He's expected to appear in court for arraignment on Friday, though prosecutors signaled the charging decision is not imminent.

"The matter involving Mr. Moore remains under active investigation by law enforcement," Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit said in a statement. "Our office will provide an update once a decision on charges is made."

Multiple local agencies — Pittsfield Township Police, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and Saline Police — are part of the ongoing process.

Michigan is now searching for its third head coach in as many seasons, with the Moore investigation unfolding only months after a national championship and just weeks before the transfer portal opens.
