Michigan State to honor former punter in fantastic fashion on Saturday

Michigan State will honor a former player in a fantastic way this weekend.

Earlier the season, the Nebraska Cornhuskers honored former punter Sam Foltz in a tremendous way, and now, the Michigan State Spartans will follow suit with their own touching tribute for former punter Mike Sadler.

Sadler and Foltz tragically passed away in a car accident earlier this year while traveling together from a kicking camp in Wisconsin. On Saturday when Michigan State takes on Nebraska, the Spartans will be playing on a field graced with Sadler's number prominently displayed at the 50-yard line.

There have been far-reaching tributes throughout the country for Foltz and Sadler, including from both LSU and Oregon in the early stages of the season. Still, it is hard to imagine a more moving image than this one from the institution that Sadler played for over a four-year span, and the fact that he will be inducted into the Michigan State Hall of Fame makes the moment even more special.

From coast to coast, there will be a lot of attention on the result of the football game between Michigan State and Wisconsin, and that is what happens when two top-12 teams match up in a critical conference battle. However, the most important aspect of the game will be the tribute to Mike Sadler, and fans would be wise to remember that.
