Chip Kelly was always going to be in high demand when it came to the college football coaching carousel but things are heating up. There has been widespread buzz about Kelly weighing a potential decision to take over for Jim McElwain at Florida but, now, there is a second opening that is reportedly drawing his attention in a sharp way.
The jettisoning of Jim Mora at UCLA was not necessarily a surprise in a vacuum, though the move did create a number of interesting scenarios. While no one would argue that the Bruins have better recent football history than the Gators, there are perks to living in Los Angeles and they include not specifically facing the media vacuum that comes with a high-profile SEC football position.
That could appeal to Kelly, who is known as someone that does not really enjoy the media circus, and it seems clear that he will be openly deciding between the two teams as the No. 1 option for both. It seems like forever since Kelly was running through the college football world at Oregon but his appeal is clear and two potential future heavyweights in the sport now seem to be battling for his services on the sideline.
