The Oregon Ducks rolled through Portland State on Saturday, winning 81-7 in their season opener. While heisman-candidate quarterback Bo Nix threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns, the most impressive performance of the day arguably came from the Ducks' mascot.
'The Oregon Duck' does a cumulative amount of pushups every single time the team scores. So after Bo Nix connected with receiver Troy Franklin for the first touchdown of the game, the Duck did a light seven pushups. But on the next possession when running back Bucky Irving took a 52 yard run to the endzone, the Duck added another 14 to his pushup tally and so on and so forth.
After the eleven touchdowns scored by the 15th ranked team in the country, the Ducks mascot final pushup tally ended at an unimaginable 546. His exhaustion following the game is representative of just how powerful Oregon's offense was in week 1.
