The Playoff chairman explains why Washington was selected over Penn State

The committee made their final selection on Sunday.

For selection Washington over Penn State for the College Football Playoff, it looks like the committee had one big reason for eventually taking the Huskies as the No. 4 seed.

"We looked at one-loss Washington, that loss being to a Top 10 opponent," said committee chairman Kirby Hocutt. "Compared to a two-loss Penn State team... one loss, they were not competitive in that particular game, the other loss was to an 8-4 team."

Hocutt also espoused how certain performance metrics favored Washington, but this point here seemed to be the key one. Washington's SOS wasn't as good as Penn State's, but Penn State has two losses on their resume that really don't help their case.

Do you agree with Hocutt's explanation?
