Former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore appeared in court Friday and was formally charged following what prosecutors described as a disturbing series of events that unfolded earlier this week.

Moore, 39, faces a felony count of home invasion, along with misdemeanor charges of stalking and breaking and entering, stemming from an alleged incident involving a university staffer with whom he had an inappropriate relationship, according to prosecutors.
During Friday's hearing, the prosecution alleged that Moore broke into the woman's home on Wednesday, days after the relationship had ended, and made a series of alarming statements while inside the residence.
Prosecutors said Moore grabbed kitchen items, including butter knives and scissors, and threatened to harm himself, telling the woman that she would have to watch and that his blood would be "on her hands."
According to the prosecutor, the woman had ended the relationship earlier in the week and attempted to cut off contact, but Moore allegedly continued calling and texting her.
She later reported the situation to university officials, which preceded Moore's firing by Michigan for what the school described as an "inappropriate relationship with a staff member."
Prosecutors said Moore only left the home after the woman told him she was calling police.
Moore was taken into custody Wednesday and remains jailed in Washtenaw County. If convicted of the felony charge, he could face up to five years in prison.
The case remains ongoing.
