Report: Texas HS coach's racial remarks included threatening to hang black students from a tree

What this coach was accused of saying is absolutely unbelievable.

A high school coach in Texas is now gaining national attention after reportedly saying racially charged remarks to black students multiple times during his tenure.

According to the Dallas Morning News, coach Todd Campbell of Centennial High in Frisco, TX was accused of repeated incidents of racism by students at the school, including one incident where Campbell reportedly threatened to hang students from a nearby tree for misbehaving. The report also claimed the coach said black players must run fast because they eat fried chicken and drink Kool-Aid.

From the Dallas Morning News:

In one instance, he was trying to quiet a group of students. "You need to be quiet. You see that rope over there, you see that tree back there, I'm going to hang you in that tree. I'm going to hang you by your toes," Campbell said, according to one student who shared it with district officials.

Campbell resigned from his position in January after a district investigation was launched into the allegations. Those allegations were not just limited to the quote above, as the report also states that Campbell was accused by multiple students of inappropriate comments towards black students and athletes.

Because of Campbell's resignation, no discipline was handed down as a result of the investigation. The school and district are now seeking ways to focus on issues related to race and diversity after this incident.
