USA Today analyst reveals his early picks for the 2018 College Football Playoff

This is quite the group.

We are still some time away, but USA Today analyst Dan Wolken has already revealed his picks for the 2018 College Football Playoff.

Wolken, one of the finest and most credible sports journalists in the country, believes we are headed for yet another Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers event.

Via Wolken's thought process:

Barring some unexpected major development, the preseason polls for 2018 are likely to show Alabama at No. 1 and Clemson at No. 2, which reflects not only their recent consistency but the actual roster quality as well.

This makes total sense. Betting against Nick Saban would be like hitting on 20 while playing blackjack. You just don't do those things. As for the Tigers, Clemson's roster is going to be stacked.

The entire piece, as he doesn't only focus on the 2018 College Football Playoff, is worth your time. He highlights several other things, including Georgia, Bobby Petrino turning Louisville into a family business, and about a dozen other topics.

Citing Georgia's No. 1-ranked recruiting class filling, Wolken believes the Bulldogs could return to the college football version of the Final Four.

As for his actual foursome prediction: Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Washington.

It is only late January, but it is never too early to start making predictions!
