Alabama Lands Former 5-Star Transfer From USC

Domani Jackson, who was the No. 1 cornerback in the 2022 class, is heading to the SEC after his time at USC.

Days before they take on Michigan in the Rose Bowl, the Alabama Crimson Tide received some good news out of the transfer portal.

Nick Saban and the Tide have secured the services of former USC cornerback Domani Jackson, a player who was formerly a five-star recruit. He's leaving USC with two years of eligibility to join Saban and the Crimson Tide.

A recruit from the 2022 class, Jackson was viewed as a "Five-Star Plus+" recruit by On3. At 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, he was the No. 1 cornerback and No. 5 overall player from that draft class.

Since arriving at USC, Jackson has played 713 snaps (391 in coverage, 322 in run defense), according to Pro Football Focus. He's amassed 31 tackles and allowed 22 receptions on 33 targets for 461 yards and two touchdowns. This past season, he allowed 20 receptions for 411 yards and two scores. He has yet to haul in an interception.

Jackson is the latest player to transfer to the program, following Texas A&M's LT Overton, who was also a five-star recruit.

The reaction of X to this news has been mixed.

"Significant add to a position group that will be thin next year with likely losses of McKinstry and Arnold. He will compete for a starting spot alongside Trey Amos," one user wrote.

"Let's gooo. Big fan of this get right here. Thin DB room and a ton of talent here. Wasn't pretty at USC but hard to be good on that defense. Glad he realized he made the wrong move a couple years ago," someone else wrote.

USC's defense surrendered 34.4 points per game, good for 118th in the NCAA this season.

"No Hate But No Way Will Can Still Be Friends With This Dude He Trolled Michigan Fans Twice He Obviously Hates Michigan Man This Sucks," another user stated.

"Everyday the Michigan story looks more and more like a joke. It's a dead period he was at practice talked to Saban and committed in one day why isn't this a violation?" another user said, questioning this transaction.

The Crimson Tide will take on the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 at 5 p.m. ET. The winner of this game advances to the national title game.
