Jalen Milroe Makes Alabama History in Kentucky Win

Many great quarterbacks have lined up under center for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but none have done what Jalen Milroe did against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.

Milroe became the first player in Alabama history to run for three touchdowns and pass for three touchdowns in the same season. The feat is even more incredible considering he was on the bench a few games ago.

The freshman had some growing pains early, but he has been thriving lately for Nick Saban and Crimson Tide Offensive Coordinator Tommy Rees. Milroe threw for 234 yards and rushed for 36 in addition to his six touchdowns. He's been absolutely electric recently, and Alabama's offense looked borderline unstoppable today. The remaining secondaries on the Tide's schedule could be in trouble.

The Crimson Tide clinched the SEC West division title with their defeat of Kentucky, and seem destined for another showdown in Atlanta with Georgia. Hard to believe Alabama is still in contention for a national title after losing to Texas and barely escaping a matchup the South Florida Bulls, except that's what Nick Saban coached teams do. They rally when their backs are against the wall, and that's certainly what Jalen Milroe has done as well this season.

Saban has also coached his fair share of talented quarterbacks in recent years, from Bryce Young,Jalen Hurts, and Tua Tagovailoa just to name a few. Milroe might just be as talented as any quarterback Saban has had in Tuscaloosa.

Some people around the Alabama program are even beginning to whisper the "H-word". Could Milroe really be a Heisman candidate this season? Don't be shocked to see him in New York even if other QBs around the country have a bigger head start in the eyes of Heisman voters.

Heisman contender or not, Saban has found his quarterback of the future. The here and now is pretty darn intriguing for Milore too, as his stellar play has Alabama squarely in the College Football Playoff race once again.
