For those eager to find out how Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa would perform against some of the nation's top quarterbacks at the Manning Passing Academy this weekend will have to live without ever knowing at all. That's because the junior signal caller is injured... again.
Tagovailoa, the current Heisman Trophy frontrunner, isn't at the annual showcase at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. According to multiple reports, including WGNO sports director Ed Daniels and former NOLA.com reporter Julie Boudwin, the 21-year-old has a slight hamstring injury and will be kept out for "precautionary measures."

A tweaked hamstring is not the end of the world. This is just a camp and not a big game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Tagovailoa will be fine long before the upcoming NCAA college football season begins against the Duke Blue Devils. However, it should make everyone a little more nervous because he cannot stop getting injured.
In the past year alone, the Hawaii native has suffered a slew of injuries. He fractured a bone in his throwing hand twice last spring. Then during the season, he sprained his PCL, had a quadriceps injury, and suffered a high ankle sprain during the SEC Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs. He also struggled against the Clemson Tigers the CFP National Championship Game.
Add in his very underwhelming A-Day game, and this is just one thing after another for the Alabama football star quarterback who was the Walter Camp Award and Maxwell Award winner last season.
The road to another Southeastern Conference title and College Football Playoff berth for Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban starts with Tagovailoa, who set all sorts of passing marks last season, including 43 passing touchdowns. This is far from ideal, but it's better he stays on the sideline now and rests his minor hamstring injury now before it gets worse, especially without Jalen Hurts to save the day anymore.
