While most Auburn fans are probably getting tired of coach Gus Malzahn and his losing ways —- he's 17-13 in the last three seasons —- there's at least one ESPN supporter who thinks it would be a "mistake" to fire him. Analyst Matt Barrie —- no, not the fantasy guy —- was a guest speaker for the 1st and 10 Club at the Mobile Marriott on Monday and spoke about why he thinks Malzahn needs to stay.

Barrie thinks the "what have you done for me lately?" mindset is setting in too quickly for some people. He took the Tigers to the BCS Championship game his first year at the helm and expectations have never been the same since then.
"Look, you have to be so careful, when you're evaluating where your program is, and what exactly it is you expect every year. He comes in, and takes his team to a national championship, and you get to that level so quickly, people are going to expect that year-in and year-out. There's really only one coach in the country that can do that, and it's Nick Saban. And (Malzahn) can recruit, he's had some of the top recruiting classes in the country. He's still a good offensive mind. ... With the talent that's there, he just needs a break to go his way."
He could use a big break this year like a win against Alabama, Ole Miss or Arkansas. That would certainly help his recruiting and help his case to stay with the school. You can check out more of his appearance via AL.com as he had a few opinions on who the starting quarterback should be as well.
