With Alabama's spring football game quickly approaching, Tide fans are eagerly waiting for head coach Nick Saban to decide which player will take over for Bryce Young under center in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide have two excellent options in Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson, but there can only be one starter. Because Milroe has more in-game experience than Simpson, it's easy to see why he's a threat to eat into snap counts. But, as far as coach Saban is concerned, it's still a two-horse race with plenty of time left to make a decision.

Saban Weighs in On Alabama's QB Situation
"They both made some good plays, but they also both made some plays that they probably wish they would have had back," Saban told AL.com. "They're making progress. They're improving. I think that they're developing some confidence in the offense and what they're supposed to read, and what they're supposed to do."
With Alabama's A-Day spring game set for April 22, it's clear that Saban has high hopes for both players, heaping praise on each of his potential starting QBs.
"[Simpson] can move. He's a good athlete. He can make plays with his feet," Saban added. "I think Jalen is, probably, really special when it comes to that because of his speed. But Ty does it fairly well. ... He ran the ball a lot in high school. He's tough and he makes pretty good decisions when he's running the ball."

While Young's arm helped carry the Crimson Tide to a national championship game during his tenure as field general, it's been Milroe and Simpson's speed in the run game that has piqued Saban's interest. But it's not as simple as that.

"Guys have to understand, is this a good time to run or not? Like, we did some two-minute today and guys were running where we'd be better off if they throw the ball away, because we're just wasting time, really. I think situationally, we can probably do a little bit better job of making decisions on when we use our feet to make plays and when it's better to give up on a play and have a better chance to make a play the next play, especially in a lot of these two-minute situations."
With 'Bama's spring game being broadcast to a national audience, every Tide fan will be watching to see which QB steps up and makes an impression on the the legendary Alabama coach. But even then, it's possible Saban stays tight-lipped about his decision until later in the summer.
