Brock Bowers Took Over the Fourth Quarter vs Auburn

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers couldn't be stopped in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game against Auburn.

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers is on another level.

The back-to-back defending national champions found themselves in a nail-biter on the road as the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs were down 17 to 10 early in the third quarter to the Auburn Tigers. Luckily for the Bulldogs, they had their top player and one of the best players in the country, tight end Brock Bowers, step up with a huge second half to propel them to a 27-20 victory.

In the first half, Bowers, like the rest of the Georgia offense struggled, catching just two passes for nine yards, and also found himself struggling in the run game with only three yards on his lone carry of the game.

However, Bowers shook off that first-half performance and did not let carry over into the second half. In the final two quarters of the game, Bowers caught six passes for 148 yards, with 40 of those yards coming from a touchdown pass that gave the Bulldogs the lead with just under three minutes left in the game.

What is even more impressive is that almost 30 yards of that touchdown was after the catch, showing why Bowers is the best tight end in all of college football. Bowers would finish the game with eight receptions, 157 yards, and one touchdown.

Aside from the Georgia defense, Bowers has been one of the biggest x-factors for a Bulldogs team that has secured one SEC title and two straight national championships. With performances like this, Bowers is well on his way to a second straight John Mackey Award, and potentially a part of the Heisman Trophy conversation.

The Bulldogs and quarterback Carson Beck should lean heavily on Bowers going forward if they want to get back to the College Football Playoff, because big players show up in big-time moments when it matters most, and that is precisely what Brock Bowers did Saturday afternoon.
