Great college football quarterbacks are remembered for generations.
There's nothing like sitting back and recalling when your program was winning because of a talented signal-caller.
University of Georgia fans fondly recall David Greene. The UGA QB personified what the team was about and led the Bulldogs to double-digit wins as the starter in three of his four seasons.
Times were good when Greene was leading the offense.

David Greene made his way to Athens from South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Georgia, and redshirted his first year on campus.
As a redshirt freshman, Greene earned the starting job. From there, he had command of the huddle until he graduated.
In his four years under center, Greene racked up 42 wins — passing Tennessee's Peyton Manning as the winningest quarterback in NCAA history. Later, his record was surpassed by Texas' Colt McCoy and Boise State's Kellen Moore.
Perhaps Greene's most memorable wins were a 30-3 stomping over Arkansas in the 2002 Southeastern Conference Championship Game and a 26-13 win over Florida State in the 2003 Sugar Bowl.
Greene finished his career with 11,528 passing yards and 72 touchdown passes. He left campus as the SEC all-time career leader in passing yards. Fellow Georgia Bulldog Aaron Murray broke his record in 2013.

During his time on the UGA football team, Greene was good friends with linebacker and current ESPN college football commentator David Pollack.
The Georgia QB was the 21st pick of the third round (85th overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He could not find a rhythm with the Seahawks, New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts, however.
Greene retired from pro football in 2009, having never played in a regular-season game.

After his football career, David Greene entered the insurance world as a client executive for Sterling Seacrest Partners in Atlanta. He was made a brokerage partner in 2017.
"I enjoy what I do work-wise; it doesn't feel like a job," he said. "That competitive spirit in football, I find it in business. ... You can learn a lot. We're in the service business being an insurance broker. If you enjoy helping others, it's a great business to be in. I'm very fortunate to work with a great company," he told Savannah Now in 2017.
Along with former Bulldogs Matt Stinchcomb and Jon Stinchcomb (a member of the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl XLIV winning team), Greene hosts a children's charity event in Athens called "Countdown to Kickoff."

When he's not spending time calculating risk, Greene concentrates on his family. He has four kids with his wife, Veronica.
The former signal-caller uses his knowledge to coach his sons' teams. He's the head coach of his son's middle school team at Hebron Christian Academy. He also helps out with his younger son's team at Grayson in Gwinnett County.
In an August 2020 interview with Georgia Assistant Sports Communications Director John Fierson, Greene says one silver lining of the coronavirus pandemic was spending more time with his wife and kids at the family lake house.
The Georgia football great is savoring each moment with his family in his post-football life.
