Kirk Herbstreit usually waits until Saturdays to make his predictions for big games each weekend, but he decided to get in on the action a little early. He went on his podcast Herbstreit and Fitzsimmons to say that Mississippi State will beat No. 12 LSU in Starkville.
"It's gonna be Mississippi State loading up with 15 guys at the line of scrimmage against Derrius Guice and that running game....the game is being played in Starkville. I love the quarterback for Mississippi State, Nick Fitzgerald.
When they win, everyone is going to get on the Mississippi State bandwagon."
Fitzgerald has been sneaky good dating back to last season and he is one of the better quarterbacks in the SEC this year. Mississippi State has flown under the radar this season because they started it playing Charleston Southern and Louisiana Tech who they outscored 106-21 combined. In fact, FanBuzz's own Bo Churney has LSU on upset alert as well.
However, the Tigers will be on the road with Arden Key back on defense and might have found their passing game with Danny Etling already off to a better start than he was last year. Should the Bulldogs pull off the upset then they should be ranked and could start a nice run in the middle of the season with games against Georgia, Auburn, BYU and Kentucky after this weekend.
This game will kickoff at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
