Lane Kiffin Has Hired Urban Meyer's Son In Law

Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels are hiring former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback's coach, Corey Dennis, to their staff, Zach Berry of OM Spirit reports.

"Former Ohio State QB coach Corey Dennis is set to join Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss staff. He spent nine years with the Buckeyes and coached QBs the last four years for Ryan Day, working with Dwayne Haskins, Justin Fields and C.J. Stroud," Berry said on Twitter.

Also, Dennis is the son-in-law of former Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer.

During his time at Ohio State from 2012-2018, Meyer went 83-9, winning a national championship. He also won two national championships with Florida.

All of the quarterbacks Dennis worked with before 2023 have gone on to be first-round NFL draft picks. Kyle McCord was the starter for the program this past season but has since transferred to Nebraska.

Now, he'll work with Jaxson Dart.

Last season, Dart completed 64.5% of his passes for 3,363 yards, 25 passing touchdowns, five interceptions, and added 568 rushing yards and eight scores.

The Rebels went 11-2, winning the Peach Bowl.

With the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams, Kiffin's Rebels, along with the quarterback tutelage Dennis brings and their record from last year, set them up to be one of the teams "in the dance."

Next season, Ole Miss has the following opponents:

  • Furman
  • Middle Tennessee
  • Wake Forest
  • Georgia Southern
  • Kentucky
  • South Carolina
  • LSU
  • Oklahoma
  • Arkansas
  • Georgia
  • Florida
  • Mississippi State

Fans on X responded well to the hire.

"HUGE HIRE. Lane Kiffin continues to build one of the best coaching staffs in college football," one fan said.

Earlier this month, it appeared Dennis was headed to Utah as an analyst, but that has fallen through, and no formal announcement of the hire was ever made.
Now, Dennis looks ahead with Kiffin in hopes of plenty of Rebels success in 2024.
