Ole Miss Is Losing One of Its Best Players to the Transfer Portal

In a shocking move, Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins is leaving the program and hitting the transfer portal.

Judkins, in his second college football season, became the first Southeastern Conference player since Herschel Walker to have 15-plus touchdowns in back-to-back years.

In 2022, he had 275 carries for 1,567 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. He also added 15 receptions for 132 yards and one touchdown. In 2023, he followed up that performance with 271 carries for 1,159 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns, plus 22 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

He'll certainly be a top NFL running back prospect when he comes out, but he's headed elsewhere for now.

Judkins took to X to discuss his decision.

The graphic he posted starts by saying, "After long talks with my family and hard prayers, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. The decision to enter into the transfer portal was not made lightly, but I believe that it is the best decision for my personal and athletic growth."

He then thanked the Ole Miss community.

"I have loved my time here at Ole Miss and am grateful for the opportunity to grow as a football player and program within this program," he said.

He continued: "To the fans, I want to say thank you for welcoming me and my family, and for all of the love and support. To my brothers, who will forever be a part of my family, I am forever thankful for the relationships we've built while I've been here. To coach Kiffin, coach Smith and the entire coaching staff, thank you all for believing in me and developing me into a better football player."

He was referring to head coach Lane Kiffin and running backs coach Kevin Smith.

Based on his talent, it should be assumed that Judkins will look to play at an elite-level program next season, such as Alabama, Georgia or even Texas. However, we'll wait to see where he visits and ultimately lands.

His last game with Ole Miss was the Egg Bowl against Penn State. Judkins rushed for 106 yards on 34 carries and had one catch for 14 yards and a touchdown. His 34 carries were the most in a single game this season.
