Five-star outside linebacker Owen Pappoe reportedly has a top two of Clemson and Florida State, but has said that Alabama is "gaining ground" on them. He then dropped a top three list of Georgia, Nebraska and Clemson. However, now he's telling 247Sports that the Volunteers are getting back in the mix.
"They're back in it now," Pappoe said. "I'm going to be paying close attention to them to see what they're doing."
Pappoe is giving the Vols another chance now that the staff is different under Jeremy Pruitt and will likely be pursuing him pretty hard. He detailed what his recruitment was like under the previous staff.
"I didn't really have communication with the coaches," said Pappoe. "It just fell off."
The 6-foot, 211-pound Georgia native is the top outside linebacker in the class of 2019 as well as the No. 2 recruit in the state and the No. 5 overall recruit in the class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He also has offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan and Ohio State among others.
