Report: Peyton Manning may be seeking his latest post-football endeavor

Things can change in a hurry.

Bob Corker has been a Senator from Tennessee since 2007 but this week he announced that he will not be pursuing re-election in 2018. While that isn't exactly a sports story, it might become one if one report is at all accurate.

In short, Tennessee representative Scott DesJarlais indicated this week that former Super Bowl winning (and future Hall of Fame) quarterback Peyton Manning could be in the mix to run for Corker's soon to be vacant seat in the senate.

It should be noted that, back in March, Manning told the media (via FOX Sports) that he was not ready to pursue any political opportunities.

"I don't know where that came from," Manning said. "Last week I was going to run a team, this week I going to apparently run for Senate, and next week I'll be an astronaut. ... I have no interest in the political world, but would like to continue serving communities."

Still, things can change in a hurry, especially in the political realm, and this kind of opportunity would not necessarily be around for Manning in the future. It is hard to fathom a more popular figure in the state of Tennessee than Peyton Manning and, even if this doesn't seem likely, it is certainly intriguing.
