Kirk Herbstreit weighs in on "crazy" Jimbo Fisher-leaving-Florida State rumors

Fisher is 81-23 in his career as the Florida State head coach.

There's plenty of movement in the college football coaching world, and Texas A&M may be next on the docket to be in the market for a new head guy.

ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit weighed in on the Herbstreit & Fitzsimmons podcast (H/T Spun):

"Tennessee is already open with what happened this past week. Florida's been open. You touched on the possibility with Jeff Long being let go as AD at Arkansas, Bret Bielema (could be next), they've had their struggles, possibility there. Texas A&M, with Kevin Sumlin, I'm already hearing crazy rumors that Jimbo Fisher at Florida State could go to Texas A&M if that does open up," Herbstreit said. "You're talking five jobs in the SEC opening up."

Florida State has had a very disappointing year this season, as the Seminoles have fallen to 3-6 after starting quarterback Deondre Francois was lost for the year back in September.

With that, conversation has started to grow on where Fisher will be in 2018, as some wonder if a school like Texas A&M will be able to pry Fisher away from the Seminoles. FSU insider Bud Elliott of Tomahawk Nation says that he would "put money on" Fisher still being with the Noles in 2018.

For what it's worth, that might be a smart bet. Fisher reportedly had similar offerings from LSU last season, but Fisher did end up staying with the Seminoles despite a reported offer of nearly $7 million annually. Texas A&M could offer a similar amount, or even more than that, but the point is that it is clearly going to take a lot more than just money to get Fisher to jump ship.

Fisher is 81-23 in his career as the Florida State head coach. The Noles have won one BCS national title (2013) under Fisher, and have once participated in the College Football Playoff (2014). The 3-6 record in 2017 represents the first time that Florida State has lost more than four games in one season with Fisher as the head coach.
