Steve Spurrier remains a wildly entertaining figure in the college football universe but the legendary head coach has been out of the game for a while after retiring at South Carolina. Given that he is already 72 years old, it makes sense that Spurrier would hang him his visor and headset for good. But one report from USA Today's Danny Sheridan now indicates that we could see the former Heisman Trophy winner back on a college sideline.

The mere image of Spurrier working under another coach as an offensive coordinator is a tough sell in some respects and that has to be noted. With that said, the knock on Spurrier, especially later in his career, was that the talented offensive mind did not always want to put in the (incredibly) long hours required of a top-flight college football head coach.
As a coordinator, Spurrier could survive in living a more normal lifestyle, at least relatively, and no one questions his offensive acumen. It would also be quite strange to see him operating outside of the SEC structure but, in the same breath, Steve Spurrier returning to an active coaching role would be must-see television and we can silently hope for this to transpire.
