UTEP fired offensive coordinator Brent Pease following a disappointing 0-3 start to the 2017 season, as first reported by Brent Bloomquist of the El Paso Times.
"Yes, making a change and will address it at press conference (Monday) as far as any staff change responsibilities," head coach Sean Kugler told the Times via text message.
UTEP is the third FBS team to make a coordinator change so far this season, following East Carolina and Missouri, who have each replaced their defensive coordinators.
The Miners suffered a 63-16 loss to Arizona on Saturday night during a home game that saw an embarrassing turnout.
UTEP ranked second-to-last nationally in total offense (204.7 yards per game) through its first three games and ranked 125th in scoring (13.0 points per game).
Pease, a former top assistant to Chris Petersen at Boise State, was once considered to be an equal to current Broncos head coach Bryan Harsin before taking over coordinator duties when Harsin left for Texas in 2011. He would later join Will Muschamp's Florida staff as an O.C., but was fired after two seasons of disappointing results.
Pease reunited with Petersen at Washington where he worked as a wide receivers coach before being fired after two seasons. He joined UTEP's staff prior to the 2016 season.
