While Nebraska honored punter Sam Foltz, the unthinkable happened at his family's home

Only an awful person could do this.

Nebraska set off a touching tribute on Saturday, as the Huskers took an intentional penalty to honor the memory of punter Sam Foltz. Foltz died a month ago in a fatal car crash, and Saturday's game against Fresno State was the first time that Nebraska had to take the field without him.

The tribute was wonderful and emotional, but apparently someone decided they had to be an enormous jerk to offset everything Nebraska did on Saturday.

According to ABC 8 in Lincoln, the home of Foltz's brother was burglarized on Saturday while the family was attending the game. The report says that thieves made off with at least $1,400-worth of items, including a television.

As if the Foltz family didn't have enough going on right now.

Hopefully the thief — or thieves — are caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. There is no excuse for stealing, and the fact that this happened during the game — when the family would be gone for a long period of time — probably means there's a chance the criminal knew exactly what was going on with the family.

Simply despicable.
