Broadcaster Accused Tiger Woods Of Being On 'A Lot Of Painkillers' During British Open

Three-time British Open champion Tiger Woods started his first round at the Royal Troon golf club in Scotland Thursday, with accusations being made that he had taken too many painkillers.

That is to say, while on air, Sky sports announcer Mark Roe made this wild accusation about Tiger.

"And you look at the eyes, you've got to think there is a lot of painkillers being taken to cope with the pain."

So far, the 15-major champion is in danger of missing his third straight major cut, as he is currently tied for 138th, shooting +8 over par 79 after Thursday's first round.
Notably, this year has been a tough one for Tiger, as he finished in last place out of all the players who made the cut at the Masters, then subsequently missed the cut at the PGA Championship and U.S. Open.
Considering his age, injuries and struggling performances, no one would blame Tiger if he wanted to take a bunch of painkillers before hitting the green. After all, Tiger's counterpart John Daly probably is certainly taking a lot more than that before he plays his rounds.
However, it might not be the time and the place to say this on the live broadcast, especially considering how touchy the topic is for Tiger, in regards to the 2017 DUI incident when police found him asleep behind the wheel with painkillers in his system.

"I didn't do a whole lot of things right today,'' Woods said after his day one performance. "I need to shoot something in the mid-60s tomorrow to get something going on the weekend.''
