Shane Lowry has just put his name into a historic record book with a clutch shot during the 2026 Masters at Augusta National Golf Club.

Lowry stepped to the sixth hole, a Par 3, and launched the ball with his seven iron. The ball landed on the green and then rolled into the hole for an ace. The crowd and Lowry, as expected, went wild.
With this hole-in-one, he became only the seventh player in Masters history to achieve this feat on the sixth hole at Augusta National Golf Club and the first since 2022. He did this in what is his 11th appearance in the prestigious tournament.

Interestingly, the Ireland native is quite adept at hitting hole-in-ones at famous golf courses. He has done so multiple times throughout his career, including during the 2016 Masters. That time, however, he posted an ace on the 16th hole at Augusta National Golf Club.
Lowry also hit a hole-in-one on the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass in 2022, on the seventh hole at Pebble Beach two years ago, and on the second hole at Houston's Memorial Park two weeks ago.
The 2016 Masters ace didn't fully translate to tournament success. He ended the tournament tied for 39th with Justin Thomas and Romain Langasque.
This season, however, he is tied with Sam Burns for fourth place through the first nine holes of the third round. This keeps him on pace to potentially match or surpass his career-best finish in the prestigious event. He previously finished tied for third place in the 2022 Masters.
The Masters will continue into Sunday with the final day. CBS Sports will continue to provide coverage for Round 4, which begins at 10 a.m. ET. Paramount+ will have coverage from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. CBS will then take over from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Paramount+, CBSSports.com, and the CBS Sports app will have the simulcast live stream.
