Dodgers Don’t Know Where Pitching Ace Tyler Glasnow Disappeared To Amid News Of Injury Setback

In unfortunate news for Los Angeles Dodgers fans, starter Tyler Glasnow is "highly unlikely" to pitch again this season, after being diagnosed with a sprained right elbow, as manager Dave Roberts confirmed this on Saturday.

Following this news, Glasnow cleaned out his locker at Truist Park in Atlanta, while the Dodgers were finishing up a four-game series with the Braves. That is to say, the pitcher avoided talking to media the past couple of days, as even Glasnow's own team apparently doesn't know his whereabouts at this time.

On Sunday Roberts spoke to reporters, "I don't know where he flew to... But he's not with the team, no."

Glasnow originally landed on the Injured List following elbow tendonitis and was on pace to return in mid-September. However, after scans recently revealed a sprain, this injury setback ultimately means he won't play again in 2024.

Notably, Glasnow previously had Tommy John surgery in 2021, when he was playing for the Tampa Bay Rays, and the 31-year-old signed a five-year/$136.5 million extension with the Dodgers since being traded.

In 22 starts this season Glasnow proved to be a CY Young candidate, as he had a 9-6 record with a 3.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, in addition to having one of the highest K rates in the major leagues (168 strikeouts in 134 innings).

Manager Dave Roberts spoke on losing his No. 1 pitching ace due to injury.

"It's a big blow, looking at what he meant for our ball club, what he's done for us, what we expected him to do. Certainly, there's going to be a cost but we've got to move on and we will and we have a lot of capable people. I feel bad for Tyler because he did everything to stay healthy and get back and it just wasn't going to happen."

In what has been an injury-riddled season for the Dodgers so far, they do have good news regarding the return of starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who had eight strikeouts in four scoreless innings pitched vs. the Cubs last week (6-3 win), following a three month absence on the IL with a right shoulder injury.

All in all, the Dodgers will have to enter the postseason without Glasnow, as they currently are the top team in the NL West division, with a 88-61 record (3.5 games ahead of the San Diego Padres).
