The veteran infielder has revealed that he suffered a torn tendon in his left ankle. He will have to undergo surgery, which will sideline him for roughly six to eight months as he recovers.

He wore a walking boot and he used crutches on Wednesday at the ballpark. He also told reporters that he will seek a second opinion before scheduling the ankle surgery.

As Correa explained, he was going through a normal day while hitting at the cage. He felt great...until he didn't.

"I took a swing and just felt a pop," Correa said. "It just completely snapped on me and then I fell to the ground. "I couldn't put weight on it.

"Normal swing. Normal swing. I felt like a loud pop. I heard it and felt it. Right away, I knew something was wrong."

The longtime member of the Astros has been hitting .279 this season. He has delivered three home runs with 16 RBIs. He has scored 22 runs.

Correa has played in 32 games this season while splitting his time between third base and shortstop. He replaced Jeremy Pena, who dealt with a hamstring injury, in 23 games.

A 12-year veteran, Correa started his career with the Astros. He won Rookie of the Year in 2015, and he earned All-Star honors for the first time in 2017.

This is the same season that the Texas-based team won the World Series. Though an investigation later revealed that the team had stole signs.

He remained with the Astros through the end of the 2021 season, and then he landed with the Twins for 2022. Correa then signed a six-year, $200 million deal with the Twins before 2023.

He remained with the team in 2024 and for part of 2025, but the Astros reacquired him before the trade deadline.
