A member of the Cleveland Guardians chose a very meaningful way to celebrate a win. He got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend.

The moment occurred on April 19 after the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Baltimore Orioles 8-4. Catcher Austin Hedges got down on one knee in front of his girlfriend, Lexi Dickinson. A message then appeared on the jumbotron, which said, "Lexi WILL YOU MARRY ME?"
Lexi said yes, so they had the opportunity to celebrate together and pose for photos, which the Guardians shared on their social media profiles.

"I've had the ring since early spring training but was just trying to figure out when the right time was," Hedges said to media members, per ESPN. "I was going to do it regardless...but I really wanted to win that game to make it extra special."
Some members of the team were able to share in the moment. They stood nearby as the happy couple celebrated. Dickinson then further enjoyed the moment while Hedges went to change into a suit so that they could go out for dinner.
This moment to celebrate capped off what had been a relatively stressful day for the former World Series champion. After all, he had to prepare for the proposal while also closing out a series against the Baltimore Orioles.
"I had a lot of nerves today," Hedges said. "I'm always nervous for baseball games, but just trying to stay present, knowing there were some activities after made it harder. It was a special day. A special day to be able to soak it all in."
Hedges, 33, has been in the majors since 2015 when he played for the San Diego Padres. He spent six years with the Southern California team before just under three years with the Cleveland Guardians (2020-2022).
Hedges split the 2023 season between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Texas Rangers, winning the World Series with the Rangers, before returning to the Guardians in 2024. He has remained with the Ohio-based team ever since.
This season, Hedges has made 50 at-bat appearances while posting 14 hits and three RBIs. He has scored 11 runs.
