The fight card, which also features Paddy Pimblett vs. Benoit Saint Denis, will air exclusively on Paramount+ as part of the existing multi-year deal between the UFC and Paramount. It will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
McGregor and Holloway first faced off back in 2013 during an event in Boston, Massachusetts. The Irishman secured the win by unanimous decision. This marked his second win in the UFC, and he extended the streak with wins over Diego Brandao, Dustin Poirier, Dennis Siver, Chad Mendes, and Jose Aldo.
The win over Mendes solidified McGregor as the interim featherweight champion. He then fully took the title with a win over Aldo. Less than a year later, he defeated Eddie Alvarez to claim the lightweight title and become a simultaneous title-holder in two weight classes.
He has since lost his titles. He has also gone 3-4 in the octagon since defeating Aldo in 2015. His last two fights, both against Poirier, came in 2021. He lost both times.
Holloway is also a former featherweight champion with wins over some of the sport's biggest names. He made his UFC debut back in 2012 as he lost to Poirier. However, he rebounded with three straight wins over Pat Schilling, Justin Lawrence, and Leonard Garcia.
Holloway defeated Aldo two times during his reign as featherweight champion. He beat Justin Gaethje, Poirier, Frankie Edgar, and The Korean Zombie. His UFC 300 knockout of Gaethje earned a spot in MMA lore.
