"What can I say? I had him weak in the knees, I guess," Holloway joked before making a heartfelt statement. "All jokes aside, not just as a fighter, as a human, I just hope he's all good, man.

"I hope that recovery can come well, and I hope I get to see his 170 domain that he kept talking about before the fight. Hopefully, we can run it back — Holloway vs. McGregor 3. It'd be fun."

McGregor, fighting in the UFC for the first time since a leg injury in 2021, entered the octagon on Saturday to face Holloway once again. He took the first fight in 2013 by unanimous decision, and he had the goal of making it 2-0 against Holloway.

However, the fight did not last a full round. McGregor tried to land a jumping scissor kick to start the fight, but he landed awkwardly on the mat. His knee gave, and he slipped to the mat.

He stood back up and tried to throw a second kick, but he fell once again. Holloway then began throwing punches as McGregor remained on the mat.

The Irishman returned to his feet approximately 30 seconds into the match, and he threw some punches. Yet, he fell once again after his leg buckled. Holloway then looked to referee Mike Beltran to see if he would intervene.

Beltran finally stopped the fight just over 1 minute into the first round after McGregor went to make a move and clearly showed he had an injury.

McGregor went and put his head against the octagon's sides while the broadcast crew expressed confusion about everything that had transpired.

"Everybody who knows anything about the fight business — and it's been a big topic of discussion leading up to this fight," said UFC CEO Dana White after the event. "Five years off in this sport is rough."

White added that he did not believe McGregor had a pre-existing injury. He said someone would have noticed this during the traditional weigh-in and face-off. He said that the belief is that McGregor suffered an ACL injury.
