Anthony Smith, a now-retired UFC fighter, has been arrested on multiple charges after an alleged incident on Monday.

According to TMZ, Smith was taken into custody in Nebraska shortly before 9 p.m. local time. He is facing charges of "first-degree domestic violence, terroristic threats, and first-degree false imprisonment."
If convicted, he would face significant prison time. The first-degree domestic violence charge alone could carry up to 50 years in prison.
Smith, 38, appeared before a judge in Nebraska on Wednesday morning. He was given a no-contact order for his wife, Mikhala, and his bond was set at $500,000.
Details about what led to the arrest remain unclear this early into the process.
A member of FactoryX Muay Thai, Smith fought in the light heavyweight division during his UFC career. He fought in 60 professional bouts while going 38-22 with 15 wins by submission and 20 wins by knockout or TKO.
Smith started his professional career back in February 2008, and he secured a submission by armbar win over Dave Moran. One month later, he defeated Jeremy Shepherd by submission. His third consecutive win came by KO/TKO in May 2008 as he defeated Ricky Duvall.
The light heavyweight spent eight years fighting in multiple professional MMA promotions before making his UFC debut in 2016. He defeated Leonardo Guimaraes by unanimous decision.
Twenty-four of his professional fights came in the UFC. He went 13-11 in the promotion, and he earned one title shot. He faced off with Jon Jones for the title in March 2019, but he lost by unanimous decision.
The veteran fighter's UFC tenure ended with a 1-4 record in his final five fights. His last time in the octagon came against Zhang Mingyang in April 2025. He lost by KO/TKO and then he left his gloves on the mat.
Since retiring, Smith has still remained involved in UFC. He has appeared at the analyst desk and in the broadcast booth during multiple fights nights, both on ESPN and Paramount+.
