“Plan is in place” for O.J. Simpson’s parole release from prison

He's spent the last nine years as a prisoner at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada for his crimes.

Believe it or not, the juice is about to be loose — again.

Ashok Moore of ESPN is reporting that a plan is officially in place for O.J. Simpson to be released from his Nevada prison. Per Moore, Simpson could be released on parole as soon as Monday:

CBS News has expanded on Moore's reporting, going as far to say that Simpson will have to move prisons in order to be released. A close friend of Simpson's, Tom Scotto, couldn't confirm the release date, but the former football star turned worldwide crime superstar is expected to be released soon after October 1st, the date the state parole board tabbed for his release:

"Keast says Simpson remains at Lovelock Correctional Center in northern Nevada. She says he would be moved to High Desert State Prison outside Las Vegas for release.

A close Simpson friend, Tom Scotto, would only say that Simpson is scheduled to be released "shortly after" Oct. 1. No one has said yet where he will live after he is freed."

Simpson was, of course, the suspect in the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and a restaurant waiter and her acquaintance, Ron Goldman. Considering his star power as a former USC running back and NFL player, Simpson's trial was one of the most watched and talked about events of the mid-90's, with his ride in the white Bronco now living in infamy.

In fact, years later, Simpson and his rather suspect not-guilty verdict (and the racial tensions that surrounded it) is still a major talking point in American pop-culture.

The former USC star was never jailed for that crime, but he did end up in jail years later for an armed robbery conviction.
