The Cleveland Cavaliers are not having one of the better offseasons in recent memory as they've fired their general manager after a three-year Finals run and haven't been able to find a replacement in almost a month. There were talks about potentially signing former Nuggets and Pistons star Chauncey Billups, but it seems those have fallen through:

Can confirm Chauncey Billups decision to withdraw his name from Cavs president of basketball ops job. Had been leaning that way for a while.

And it looks like it came down to getting paid. However, it wasn't quite a war:
Making Chauncey Billups' decision not to take Cavs front office job a tad easier, he received more money from ESPN, I'm told. https://t.co/aBWYn5tidn

To be clear, ESPN gave Chauncey Billups a raise -- not more money from ESPN than Cavs offered. My apologies for awkward treat. https://t.co/S54A8ZuHgp

Billups has been an analyst for ESPN since 2014 and has appeared on several of its shows including The Jump and NBA Countdown that's hosted by Michelle Beadle. It says a lot about the Cavs that they can't reel in a guy with no front office experience and who has been trying to get into that position since retiring.
