Dave Portnoy: Patrick Beverley won’t return to Barstool if allegations hold

Patrick Beverley will not appear on any Barstool Sports platforms for the foreseeable future. Founder Dave Portnoy said Wednesday that the former NBA guard is "taking forced time away" from the company after being arrested on a felony assault charge.

Portnoy addressed Beverley's status on "The Unnamed Show," noting that the host of Barstool's "Hoopin' N Hollerin'" podcast needs to "figure all this out."

"We'll let the facts play out," Portnoy said, via TMZ. "Certainly, with what is hanging there, we can't have him be part of what we're doing right now. We have to see how it settles, but this is horrible. If there's any truth to it, he won't be back at Barstool."

Portnoy said he spoke with Beverley after the allegations from his 15-year-old sister became public and that Beverley understood the decision. Portnoy added that the details in the documents were "brutal."

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by TMZ Sports, Beverley is accused of punching his sister in the eye and choking her for up to 30 seconds at a home in Texas.

She told authorities that after being caught sneaking out, Beverley scolded her, then grabbed her by the neck with both hands and lifted her off the ground. She also claimed he slammed her into walls and told her he would be the family member to kill her.

Investigators noted markings on her neck and petechiae in the whites of her eyes. Beverley was arrested and booked on a felony assault charge before posting a $40,000 bond. His court hearing is scheduled for next month.

Beverley's attorney, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, disputed the allegations, saying the teenager's account is inaccurate. "I have every expectation that when all the facts are in, Patrick will be cleared of these charges," she said.
